MTI’s Floor Edging and Control Cavity Retrofit System works as a cavity weep detail in a furred-out, below-grade poured or block wall system because it is a moisture barrier with vertical channels throughout the wall system that will allow any moisture that may enter the system from the exterior or condensation that may accumulate on interior surface to gravitate downward to a drain field/drain tile system, away from furring, insulation, sheet rock and interior living area.

It works because it encapsulates trash mortar, preventing mortar bridging and promoting moisture flow and air venting. The “V” shape funnels moisture toward the center of the cavity, away from the back side of the face brick and the face of the back-up wall and downward to a weep system.
